Friday 12 December | 9:30-15:30
In person
In this session, we will look at how we can recontextualise our research in order to communicate meaningfully with readers beyond academia, using a blog post as an example. In the first half of the day, you will take part in genre analytical tasks to develop an awareness of the different rhetorical strategies used in popular/outreach writing versus research writing. After lunch, you will apply those insights by writing your own blog post for publication.
Delivered by Dr Lisa McGrath, associate professor of educational linguistics in the Sheffield Institute of Education.
Who is it for? Academic/research staff and PGR students
