This event will e xplore how research culture could be measured in a way that supports ongoi ng improvement\, without imposing burdens or bureaucracy. Speakers will ex plore how this might be implemented throughout the research community\, to help organisations feel more confident that their research systems\, poli cies\, environment and culture promote high quality and ethical research.\ n\nSpeakers\n\nDr Elizabeth Gadd\, Loughborough University\, INORMS REG\, CoARA\n\nDr Elizabeth (Lizzie) Gadd is Head of Research Culture &\; Ass essment at Loughborough University. She chairs the International Network O f Research Management Societies (INORMS) Research Evaluation Group and is a Vice Chair of the Coalition on Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). Sh e co-authored the UKRI-commissioned report\, 'Harnessing the Metric Tide: Indicators\, Infrastructures &\; Priorities for UK Research Assessment' . Lizzie champions the ARMA Research Evaluation SIG\, founded the LIS-Bibl iometrics Forum and The Bibliomagician Blog and was the recipient of the 2 020 INORMS Award for Excellence in Research Management and Leadership.\n\n Professor Catherine Davies\, University of Leeds\n\nAs the University of L eeds’ Dean for Research Culture\, Professor Catherine Davies leads the U niversity’s strategy to achieve a collegiate\, diverse\, and ambitious r esearch culture. She sits on several internal and external research commit tees\, steering projects in open research\, responsible metrics\, and rese arch EDI.\n\nProfessor Davies received her PhD from the University of Camb ridge in 2011\, focusing on how children learn to produce and understand n ames for objects. After a postdoc at the University of Kent\, she joined t he University of Leeds and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2018. Sh e became Professor of Language Development in 2022.\n\nHer research intere sts are in first language development\, pragmatics\, and psycholinguistics . She uses experimental data to investigate pragmatic development\, i.e. h ow children understand and produce meaning beyond vocabulary and grammar.
