Introduction

* Do you want to apply for translational research funding?

* Are you uncertain of the funding opportunities available and what a strong application would look like?

* Are you unsure what support is available to help you make the transition from basic to translational research?

Then join this half day workshop being run by I2RI, to help you prepare a strong translational research project application.

Outline of the day

Session 1 – Available support

  1. Funding landscape and Project management (Translational Research Project Manager team)
  2. Route to market and patient benefit (KE and Commercialisation teams)
  3. Clinical adoption and real word evaluation (Health Economist)
  4. Statistical considerations and trial design (Statistician from SSU)
  5. Regulatory considerations (Regulatory expert)

Session 2 – Academics who have ‘been there, done that’

Short presentations by academics who have held translational research funding, highlighting challenges, barriers and specific considerations which were critical in their translational pathway. During a panel discussion you will get the opportunity to ask them further questions and get deeper insight into the opportunities translational research represents.

Session 3 – Collaboration opportunities

The final session will foster collaborations between academics and clinicians by providing a platform for: (1) showcasing developing technologies and solutions seeking clinical input to address unmet needs, and (2) presenting specific unmet clinical needs requiring innovative solutions.
