SUMMARY:Ethics in Scientific Publishing (A Workshop with Elsevier)
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on 8 April\, 1-3pm in Owen-1025-Level 10\, city 
 campus\, for a workshop that will explore the critical role of ethics in s
 cientific publishing and the responsibilities that come with becoming an a
 uthor. While publication can enhance a researcher’s recognition\, it als
 o demands vigilance in adhering to ethical standards. Participants will le
 arn how even unintentional mistakes can damage reputations\, making it cha
 llenging to regain trust from peers. We will emphasise that the responsibi
 lity for maintaining ethical practices extends beyond authors to include r
 eviewers\, editors\, and publishers.\n\nJoin us to gain valuable insights 
 and strategies for navigating the ethical landscape of scientific publishi
 ng\, ensuring your work contributes positively to the research community.\
 n\nSpeakers: Carina Arasa Cid and Timo Bazuin\n\nCarina Arasa Cid joined E
 lsevier in March 2014 as Managing Editor in Physics\, in June 2015\, she b
 ecame Publisher managing a portfolio of Surface Science related journals a
 nd since February 2022\, she became Senior Publisher managing a portfolio 
 of Mechanical Engineering related journals. Carina studied Physics and hol
 ds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Barcelona. She has h
 eld postdoc positions at Helsinki University in Finland and in Leiden\, th
 e Netherlands. Hence\, as a publisher\, she can continue a career that com
 bines her scientific knowledge with her interests in scientific communicat
 ions.\n\nTimo Bazuin has over ten years' experience working in academic pu
 blishing in various roles. At Elsevier he is the publishing contact respon
 sible for managing the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering journal po
