SUMMARY:Decoding the Language of Assessment and Giving Clear Assessment Fee
 dback
DESCRIPTION:What’s the difference between an assessment criterion\, a mod
ule learning outcome and a grade descriptor?\n\nThe first half of this ses
sion aims to improve your own ‘assessment literacy’\, which will help
to make the marking process more straightforward for you and transparent f
or your students.\n\nIn the second half of the session we introduce and di
scuss some principles of effective assessment feedback\, with opportunitie
s for participants to review their own assessment feedback. We also identi
fy ways to streamline the marking process and explore possible approaches
to standardising feedback. The focus is on marking written work and presen
tations.\n\nThere will be a short break halfway through the session. Pleas
e bring an example of assessment feedback that you have written\, either o
n paper or on a device (you will not be expected to share this).\n\nThis s
ession is aimed at PGRs who teach\, specifically those involved in assessm
ent and feedback.\n\nIt will be led by Rachel Stone from Academic Developm
ent and Inclusion and will take place on City Campus (room to be advised v
 ia Outlook calendar invitation).\n\nBooking link\n\nQueries: rida@shu.ac.u
