The ten-session Couch to £500k course helps participants to develop the skills and confidence needed to develop and write competitive research proposals.

The course will first help you to frame your proposal idea and understand your funder. It will then guide you through planning and writing the sections of a research proposal. Alongside this, you will be able to reflect on what create clear and effective communication throughout a proposal.

The course is based on the requirements of a UKRI proposal, although the principles covered are transferable to other funders.

A series of post-session assignments and feedback from the trainers will allow you to produce a first draft of a research proposal.

All sessions will be supported with offline recordings of taught content to allow you to return to what was discussed or catch up on the occasional session you might miss. However, you will benefit most from attending the live sessions, and we look for your commitment to do that at this stage.

Despite the course name, your proposal needn’t be for £500k – your proposal value could be far less, or far more!

Please note that applying indicates you are:
– available for the 10 x 3hr sessions detailed below.
– committed to completing the assignments after each session to build your proposal (estimated to be 3-10 hours for each set of assignments).
– willing to give feedback as this is a pilot.

Applications for the 25-26 programme are now closed, applications for the 26-27 programme will open shortly.
