Over the summer there are numerous SHU internal conferences, and this session will discuss the many reasons and benefits of attending an internal conference. The session will be led by Katrin Stefansdottir. Katrin’s PhD research, The Holistic Conference Experience: Understanding the Individual Attendee’s Conference Journey, underpins the session. Academics, and others, from a wide range of subject areas were interviewed for the research hence this session will provide support and advise to all PGR’s, irrelevant of study topics. Short Talks, Lasting Impression Take your communication to the next level and uncover how to deliver an award-winning talk. Discover the hints and tips that will make your talk stand out from the crowd and how to banish nerves to give a confident performance. Discover how to give award winning presentations online or in person. This course explores storytelling, improves confidence and shows you the key to successful talks preparation. Being able to describe what you do and why is an essential skill for any researcher and this workshop will help you take your communication to the next level. Dr Jamie Gallagher is a Science Communicator and previous international 3MT winner who will show you how to turn your research into the most interesting, engaging and memorable presentation possible.
